IdealRaw organic protein powder review
Say hello to the product that just might become your next go-to when it comes to plant-based protein powder. If you haven’t heard of IdealRaw yet, it’s only a matter of time, as this home-grown brand is primed to take the vegan community by storm. Especially now that we’ve published this IdealRaw organic protein powder review. Khm-khm.
Those of you looking for a protein source to support your clean-eating lifestyle definitely care about quality first and foremost. But you also care about taste -and IdealRaw totally gets that. I’ll get to a full review in just a sec, but to put it simply, this stuff does a pretty dang good job with both quality and taste.
IdealRaw came through big time with this powder by formulating a product that is not only satisfying but is also certified organic and vegan-friendly. It seems like they might have thought of everything here, as IdealRaw also packs a nutritious punch with 5 different superfruits and a load of vitamins and minerals.
Taste and Texture
IdealRaw currently offers 6 flavor varieties, which is a pretty good range when compared to other brands. Regardless what you’re into, you should be able to find something that fits your fiddle as their range of flavors includes Chocolate, Vanilla, Mocha, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Banana Almond, and Superberry.
Each one of them had pretty good flavor and mouthfeel, but as they say, everyone has different tastes. For a sure bet, I’d go with Chocolate Peanut Butter, especially if you’re as big a PB fan as I am. There wasn’t a flavor that I didn’t like, though, so if you don’t care for PB or chocolate (but really though, who doesn’t?) then they’ve got you covered.
As you’ve probably come to expect from your plant proteins, many of them are a little gritty and chalky. IdealRaw has actually found a way to minimize this, as their powder mixes up to be pretty doggone smooth for a plant protein.
I was also pleasantly surprised with the consistency. It can be tough to get a plant protein that mixes up to be any thicker than the liquid it’s mixed with, but this one definitely was. In fact, it’s actually thick enough that I could see it blending up well with ice. I tried it with water, although I’ve read online that it mixes well with almond milk or other alternative kinds of milk.
Vegan Sources of Protein
In case you didn’t hear me the first time, IdealRaw is organic, which I definitely love. It’s also soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly! So no matter what dietary restrictions you may have, it should fit in well with your lifestyle.
IdealRaw also covers one of the primary concerns a lot of vegans and vegetarians have, and that is finding a complete protein source. With the right blend of 7 different plant proteins, IdealRaw has all the essential amino acids making it a complete protein so that it can cover your protein needs.
Ingredients
IdealRaw is sweetened with stevia and naturally flavored, which is definitely a perk. They are pretty transparent with their nutrition label and ingredient breakdown, which is also awesome. Here’s a quick look at some ingredients included in IdealRaw Organic Protein.
The Protein Blend
The protein in IdealRaw Organic Protein comes from 7 different sources combined to make a high-quality complete protein that includes all essential amino acids. The protein combo consists of:
- organic rice protein
- organic pea protein
- organic coconut protein
- organic chia protein
- organic sunflower protein
- organic golden flax protein
- organic pumpkin protein.
Superfruits Blend
IdealRaw also provides a superfruits blend that includes organic cranberries, organic pomegranate, organic broccoli, organic wheat grass, and organic beet powder. This mix delivers added vitamins and minerals that are absent in a lot of plant protein products, which is definitely a plus.
Dietary Fiber
Between the different protein sources and the superfruits blend, IdealRaw Organic Protein provides 1-4g fiber per serving (depending on flavor). This may not seem like a ton, but it’s better than nothing. It’s also helpful for those who have a daily fiber goal they’re trying to hit.
The nutritional breakdown per serving provides between 110-130 calories (again, depending on the flavor), around 5g carbs, 5g fat, and 15g protein.
Cost
IdealRaw is in the same pricing ballpark as a lot of other plant proteins these days (you can find the best current price offer here). While it’s not the cheapest product on the market, you definitely get what you pay for. You can afford to go cheap when it comes to some things, but your health and nutrition isn’t one of them.
That being said, it isn’t ridiculously priced, especially if you buy in bulk. You’ll usually be able to get a better price for 2 or 4 than if you opt to go for a single tub. On the IdealRaw website you can also find a few bundles that come with single serving sample packs if you want to try it before you buy a whole tub.

IdealRaw: SHOULD YOU BUY?
So just to rehash the main points:
Taste: Better flavor than many other plant proteins. Sweet, but not TOO sweet.
Texture: Less gritty than competitors, it mixes up relatively smoothly. It’s also pleasantly thick.
Protein Sources: A 7 protein blend that provides a complete protein. Each source is also organic, which is a plus.
Other Ingredients: Delivers fiber as well as vitamins and minerals from 5 different superfruits.
Cost: About what you’d expect from a plant-based protein powder of this quality.
All things considered, I wasn’t really able to find any cracks in the armor of IdealRaw. Compared to similar products from other brands though, the price is very competitive.
The taste and texture are both on point, and in fact are pretty well above average for a plant protein. In my experience, the shake seemed to thicken up nicely. It definitely wasn’t overly thick or foamy.
Conclusion
The nutritional profile is great, and even though it’s marketed as a protein powder, it’s got the carbs, fat, vitamins, and minerals to keep you going. I don’t see why it couldn’t be used as an occasional meal replacement shake.
In a nutshell, this is one of the better protein powders I’ve reviewed. If you’re vegan or trying to work around dietary restrictions for your health, then this IdealRaw should be on your radar for sure. In fact, the taste and quality are such that I could see those who otherwise eat a traditional diet choosing to use this as their main protein supplement!
Thanks for taking the time to check out this IdealRaw organic protein powder review and good luck on your quest for the perfect vegan protein!
